Toyota announced on May 4 that the all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma will make its world debut on May 19, 2023.
Toyota has manufactured the Tacoma pickup truck across three generations since 1995. The first-gen Tacoma, classified as a compact truck, ran from 1995 through 2004, while the 2nd-gen ran from 2005 through 2015 when Toyota introduced the third and current generation as a midsize pickup.
The Japaese automaker mostly sells them where the Hilux is unavailable, but Nigeria has both the Hilux and Tacoma.
Not much has been revealed about the newest Tacoma, but we know that the 2024 Toyota Tacoma will have a manual option (a six-speed gearbox), complete with a third pedal. That's right - the old-fashioned clutch.
According to Toyota, "Legends are more than automatic; they always come in clutch." We also know that Toyota is introducing a new Trailhunter model to further improve Tacoma's already-impressive off-road capabilities.
Toyota says it developed the Trailhunter "from the ground up" to meet the motoring needs of those seeking extended adventures. With the typical rough terrains Nigerian drivers navigate everyday, the Trailhunter package adds to the new Tacoma's excitement.
"Tacoma Trailhunter will build upon Toyota’s legendary off-road and overlanding credibility with purpose-built engineering and robust components," the automaker says.
To reassure fans that the 2024 Tacoma isn't all work and no play, Toyota is updating the truck's entertainment experience with a detachable speaker.
Note that the 2023 Toyota Tacoma only recently received a larger 8-inch infotainment display to go with the JBL premium sound system. Toyota says the portable speaker is available with JBL® FLEX, allowing you to "bring your tunes from the dash to the campsite.
Toyota truck fans are familiar with the V6-powered hybrid powertrain hitched to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
For example, the 2023 Toyota Tundra i-FORCE MAX model blends a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 with an e-motor mated to a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission, resulting in a highly fuel-efficient mileage, 437 horsepower, and 583 lb-ft of torque.
Now, Toyota says it's bringing the i-FORCE MAX performance to the Tacoma for the 2024 model year. We expect the performance stats to be just as attractive on the Tacoma TRD Pro.
