This year’s Formula One World Championship is already underway since March 5 and will continue until November 26.  Recognized by the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile), Formula One (or just F1) is the highest class of open-wheel motorsport, and this year is the 74th run. 

Unfortunately, there are no Nigerian Formula One (F1) racers – except 15-year-old American-born Ugo Ugochukwu who McLaren signed at the tender age of thirteen on a long-term deal in the future. However, Nigerian drivers have competed in other forms of motorsport, such as endurance racing and touring car racing. Some notable Nigerian race car drivers include Ahmed Makarfi, Jide Ojo, and Ovie Iroro.
